The building was designed by architect Adrian Smith, in collaboration with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, and Samsung Engineering & Construction was the first contractor to work on the project. Its construction began in 2004 and was completed in 2010, with a total cost of around 1.5 billion dollars.
