The pandemic has left the world in isolation, without a vaccine or medicine, people are afraid to leave home. In this way, international travel seems a distant possibility in the future that we look forward to. With the transmission of the virus slowing down, we can re-plan international and national trips, while respecting the rules of the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to WHO, to stay safe if you travel during the COVID-19 outbreak, you must:

WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY

It is a very important habit to minimize the risk of getting the new coronavirus. Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 to 30 seconds whenever you can - especially after being in public or traveling by public transport. If traveling by plane, wash your hands when leaving the airport. If you do not have access to soap and water, rub a disinfectant gel with at least 60% alcohol content on your hands and wrists. But remember that gel alcohol is not as effective as thorough washing with soap.

DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE WITH DIRTY HANDS

If you've ever been in a public place, don't touch your face unless you've washed your hands thoroughly. The new coronavirus can live on surfaces for hours after being touched by an infected person and can infect you if you touch your mouth, nose and eyes.

KEEP YOUR DISTANCE

If you notice that someone is coughing, sneezing or experiencing flu-like symptoms or a cold, stay at least 1 meter away from them. You can be infected by airborne respiratory droplets (coughing or sneezing).

CLEAN OBJECTS TOUCHED FREQUENTLY WITH A SPRAY OR CLEANING CLOTH

If you are staying in a hotel or hostel while abroad, be sure to reserve a place where you know you will be cleaned and sanitized frequently. Even so, it costs nothing to check with staff and management to see if they have cleaned your room thoroughly. You can also clean frequently touched objects with gel alcohol.

AVOID CROWDS - ESPECIALLY IN CLOSED SPACES

If you are traveling to a country with a large number of coronavirus cases, it is best to stay away from anywhere where there are large numbers of people. Do your research on the spread of the coronavirus outbreak in the country you are visiting. See what health and government officials are advising in that country and follow the same rules. If they advise you to stay away from crowds or a particular region, you should do the same.

USE MASK ALWAYS

Change the mask every two hours, as well as after meals and when you notice that the mask is wet. That is, always carry spare masks with you.

SEEK MEDICAL HELP IF ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS DEVELOP

If you develop symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, cough or difficulty breathing, wear a mask to avoid the risk of infecting others and seek medical help immediately.
